This 80 grit product is made with aluminum oxide mineral, a tough and versatile abrasive. Designed for hand sanding, each 9 x 11 inch sheet can be cut to the size of your sanding block. During Stage 1 of the 3M Body Repair System use the 80 grit sheets to refine the 40 grit scratches and featheredge for a smooth transition into the existing top layer of clear coat. The 80 grit scratches will give body filler the proper surface to adhere to. Also use during Stage 3 to shape and sand body filler. Follow this step with 180 grit sandpaper to refine the 80 grit scratches and allow glaze or spot putty to adhere to the body filler.

When a project necessitates exceptional results, look to 3M™ Sandpaper for your surface finishing solutions. This 80 grit product is made with aluminum oxide, a tough and versatile mineral abrasive. Aluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its cut-rate and long life. This mineral is a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges in use, whereas traditional abrasives quickly wear down with use. Due to its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, aluminum oxide is highly effective for sanding and finishing.
3M™ Sandpaper, 80 grit, is an essential part of the 3M Body Repair System.
About the 3M Body Repair System
The 3M Body Repair System connects two great brands and demonstrates how 3M & Bondo® branded products work together to achieve an excellent body repair. The four-stage process highlights the different steps for repairing everything from a paint scratch to a small dent to a patch of rustred out metal.
The stages explain how products from different categories – such as abrasives, tapes, body filler and tools – work together during each stage of a repair.
Stage 1 products are for removal of material in damaged areas in preparation for treatments and repair. These products help mask the area and remove paint and rust.
Stage 2 products are for removing dents, treating and repairing rust, reinforcing holes in preparation for filler application, pulling dents patching holes and making small repairs.
Stage 3 products are for applying body filler, feathering, sanding, and re-applying. These products are for preparing the surface for primer.
Stage 4 products are for the final step -- sealing with primer, paint and polish.
